Cross-IT team makes great strides on transformation project

As part of IT’s commitment to providing a stable and secure environment and to ensure Jabil’s digital assets are protected, Jabil is currently undergoing a transformation to evolve its systems and processes to secure its environment, based on recommendations from an outside consulting firm.

Members from organizations across IT were tasked with the planning and execution of this transformation, and by December 2016, the project team has achieved great results, completing and closing nine projects, with an additional two scheduled for closure in the next 30 days.

Some of the milestones accomplished by the team include:

  • Developing blocks and Indicator of Compromise (IOC)’s to identify and protect Jabil’s mobile devices against malware in the future.
  • Conducting IT training on standard policies to teams responsible for executing server back-ups to ensure Jabil’s data is recoverable and stored in a consistent way.
  • Formalizing a strategy for information back-up for Jabil’s data, with the use of one standard tool – Microsoft OneDrive -- eliminating the risk of data loss if unexpected end-point device failures occur.
  • Ensuring all systems images are updated and scanned consistently, avoiding any potential vulnerability.
  • Implementing asset tracking for Apple devices to ensure regular updates are applied consistently.

In January 2017, with very short notice, Jabil’s internal audit team inspected this initiative. Despite the unexpected diversion, every team member delivered support and documentation to the audit team in record time. “The successful execution of this transformation program is due largely to the above-and-beyond dedication from the project teams, who worked tirelessly, collaboratively and creatively to achieve the program’s goals,” said Lori Medeiros, Project Management Office Director.

Let’s congratulate this team!
